Kids don’t believe most other kids are facing the same insecurities and challenges they are but most are. Everybody else looks like they are having a great time on social media. The Covid stuff has made it even more isolating. I always tried to tell my kids middle school is tough and that’s why few people would sign up to do it all over.

We found it helped to encourage them to foster friendships outside of social media and not to spend so much time trying to fit in. Pursue their own interests. But the middle school years are still tough. I would encourage you to try and spend time with them doing activity they want to do even if it isn’t something you like. And have mom do the same.
